The Petition for Review Has Been Filed

To Everyone Following Michelle Troconis' Case,
Today we are sharing an important update in Michelle Troconis' case.
On July 23, 2026 Judge Hernández denied Michelle's motion to set bond pending appeal. On Friday, July 31, Michelle's appellate attorneys filed a Petition for Review asking the Connecticut Appellate Court to determine whether the ruling was correct.
As explained in the petition, the defense argues that the trial court abused its discretion by concluding Michelle was a flight risk and by failing to properly weigh the undisputed evidence demonstrating her history of compliance, strong community support, and the substantial issues raised in her pending appeal.
The petition reminds the Appellate Court that Michelle:
Fully complied with every condition of her pretrial release.
Appeared whenever required by the court, including presence at more than 24 hearings.
Successfully completed years of supervision without a single violation.
Has strong community support and a stable place to live if released.
Has continued to demonstrate exemplary conduct while incarcerated through education, service, and personal growth.
The petition also explains that Michelle's appeal presents substantial legal questions that deserve full appellate review.
This filing asks the Appellate Court to determine whether the denial of bond was legally correct in light of the record before the trial court.
Why We Are Sharing This Petition
Court filings often tell a very different story than the headlines.
Rather than relying on media summaries or secondhand accounts, we encourage you to read the petition for yourself.
It lays out the legal arguments presented to the Appellate Court and explains why Michelle's attorneys believe the trial court's decision should be reviewed.
The Voices Behind Michelle
One of the most moving parts of the filing is the collection of letters submitted on Michelle's behalf—including several from Connecticut residents with whom Michelle shares deep ties.
In the letters, family members, friends, church leaders, and supporters all describe Michelle's strong character, her commitment to helping others, her compliance with every court order, and the positive impact she has continued to have while incarcerated.
These letters remind us that Michelle is nothing like the public image created since the early days of the investigation. They speak to the person that her family, friends, and community have known for many years.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to stand beside Michelle. Your prayers, letters, courtroom attendance, encouragement, and unwavering support give our family strength and hope.
We invite you to read the court filing and learn more about the legal process directly from the court record.
