“Justice delayed is justice denied.” Gionfrido v. Wharf Realty, Inc., cited in Michelle’s appellate bond motion

We are writing to share an update regarding Michelle Troconis’ ongoing appeal and pending request for appellate bond.

On June 26, 2026, Michelle’s appellate attorney, Pamela S. Nagy, filed a motion asking the Connecticut Appellate Court to direct the trial court to issue a ruling on Michelle’s pending motion to set an appellate bond.

Michelle’s bond request has been pending for months. The motion was filed in December 2025, and a hearing was held on January 30, 2026. Additional legal memoranda were submitted afterward, including briefing requested by the court regarding an extradition issue. Despite this, no decision has been issued, and Michelle remains incarcerated while her appeal continues.

For our family, the extradition issue is deeply frustrating because Michelle is a U.S. citizen by birth, yet this additional issue has continued to delay a ruling on her pending bond request.

The timing matters. Michelle’s appellate brief was filed on November 10, 2025, and the State’s brief has been extended and is now due on October 30, 2026. Given the length of the trial record and the number of issues raised on appeal, Michelle’s appellate attorney has noted that the appeal may not be resolved for a long time.

On June 30, 2026, the State filed its response and stated that it does not oppose Michelle’s request for the Appellate Court to direct the trial court to issue a ruling. While the State does not agree with all of the legal arguments raised by the defense, it acknowledged that substantial time has passed since the January 30 hearing and the later filings.

This does not mean appellate bond has been granted. It means Michelle is asking the Appellate Court to require the trial court to finally decide the bond motion that has been pending for months.

Recent reporting has also highlighted Michelle’s conduct while incarcerated, including her participation in programs that help others. Michelle has been certified in transcribing Braille books for visually impaired children in Connecticut, is involved in Defy Ventures, a prison entrepreneurship program, and has participated in other leadership programs. Her attorney has described her as a model prisoner, and her continued commitment to helping others speaks to her character, resilience, and strength.

For our family, this is about fairness, accountability, and ensuring the legal process moves forward without unnecessary delay. Michelle continues to pursue her appeal, and we remain committed to sharing accurate updates as the case progresses.

For those who wish to review the filings directly, we have attached the defense motion filed on June 26, 2026, and the State’s response filed on June 30, 2026.

As always, Michelle and our family are grateful for your continued interest in her quest for justice.

With gratitude, The Troconis Family
